“I joined the Stearns Benton Medical Society so I may improve the practice environment for myself, my colleagues, and future physicians while increasing the quality of patient care in Central Minnesota. It is very satisfying to be able to make a true difference for physicians, medical students, residents, and patients.”

"I am a physician advocate above all else. I am a member of the SBMS and the MMA, because it is our vehicle to participate in the political process of our state and impact the state's affect on our daily work lives. The SBMS is a terrific way to understand the issues and perspectives of my colleagues in primary care and the various specialties. The SBMS brings us together at our meetings and other social events in order to talk (and sometimes whine) about the issues affecting us all. But most importantly, using that information we can bring those concerns and issues to the MMA and, with that organization's help, to the state legislature and hence influence legislation affecting us all. Without our voices raised loud and clear and in an organized fashion, our profession will be even more influenced by others who have very little understanding of the art and business of Medicine. That is unacceptable to me and most, if not all, of my colleagues. The SBMS and MMA can and do work for all of us, if we participate!"
